Took Kids Fishing 4/12

Post by CatchYourLimit »

Capt. Tom and I were real excited to get on the water Saturday and show our young anglers some fun. We loaded up the pontoon and put in at Shields just after 8... picked up our two young ones a chaperone and motored out of the river. It was a little rough but even at top speed for the pontoon (which isn't fast) everybody stayed pretty dry.

Set up our first power drift west of the light house where we had some success a week before. The speed of the drift helped get the lines out and all the girls had to do was give it a jig every once in a while. Immediately our angler boated a nice mack. These girls were awesome! I could hardly keep up with all the action between taking the hook out, casting, instructing, teddy grahams, and capri suns. They certainly made the day fun in less than favorable conditions. The girls were troopers, never got upset, listened and most importantly had a great time catching A LOT of fish. Stayed in the same general area the whole time and did great.

I sure hope the rest of the people there had as much fun as we did. When we first signed up I was a little nervous but that all went away when our young angler boated that mack. The girls were a team and had the most fun netting each others fish.

We headed back for the cookout just in time to beat the rain. I just love how honest kids are... We showed our catch to another young one who promptly said "My trout was way bigger than that one!" I just cracked up because I was the same way... in fact I still am.

It sure was fun meeting up with people at the fort. I hope next year we can get another boat to take our whole crew out.

Great report CYL. Next time I propose someone with a big pontoon boat bring a porta-potty and one of them changing tents or somethin for the girls. Not that we minded doing it, but we had a potty break that took a little over an hour due to the rough water and the fact we had to go 10 miles each way for the restroom. Just felt bad our poor girl missed about a quarter of her fishin time ridin back n forth to the potty. maybe I shoulda stuck with capri sun instead of a half litre Coke!
Mookbait! At least 401 times better than live bait!

He who have signature line make bigger post.
