St. Marks Lighthouse channel
This is the answer to a recent letter to Congressman Allen Boyds' office requesting that the lighthouse channel be dredged.
Keep your fingers crossed. They may in fact do something in our favor.
Dear Mr. Taylor:
Thank you for sharing your concerns with me.
In an effort to assist you, I have contacted the Army Corps of Engineers and have asked that they carefully review this matter and respond to my office. As soon as I receive additional information, I will be in touch with you again. In the interim, if you have any questions or concerns, please call Pat Grise who is assisting me with your inquiry in my Tallahassee office at 850-561-3979.
I appreciate this opportunity to be of service to you.
Sincerely,
F. Allen Boyd, Jr.
Member of Congress

Re: St. Marls Lighthouse channel
That's great JT51,
If it goes through we can rename the Channel to the Steve Taylor Channel.

If we were all crazy, Wouldn't that make us all normal.

RE: St. Marks Lioghthouse Channel request for dredging
Mr. Taylor,
I did a web search for the North Florida Gulf Fishing Club and turned up this email address for you.
I have received a copy of your recent request and would like to speak with you so that I am sure of the specifics of the matter. I will be out of the office tomorrow, but will return on Thursday. Is there a daytime telephone number at which I could reach you so as to discuss this matter in detail?
If so, I could call you on Thursday if that would be convenient for you.
Please let me know.

Is that the same THOMAS J. BECKHAM whose the regional sales rep for "Gulp"?
"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".

Re: St. Marks Lighthouse channel
I just spoke with Thomas Beckham with Corps of Engineers regarding the SM lighthouse channel dredging.
Because the boat channel is not a commercial channel they cannot do anything.
He did say that the SM NWR can request a dredging operation on the channel.
His report back to Congressman Boyd will be specific in the procedures to follow to request dredging.
The procedures include permitting and funding.
I will keep you posted assuming there will be future developments.

Re: St. Marks Lighthouse channel
If need be...do I have the support of the members of this forum to convey to Congressman Boyd the importance of this SM lighthouse channel dredging?
The importance implied is the ability to launch and return to the SMLH ramp regardless of tide level.
