Spanish on the Dog Island Shoal 4-21-08
Beautiful day on Monday with not much wind. Headed out to the Dog Island Shoal from Lanark after a quick stop to catch a supply of pinfish on the grass beds. For a weekday, there were a fair number (7) of boats out and about. Fished for Spanish with Gotchas and ChugBugs, plus an assortment of other stuff. Caught a bunch of Macs and a few bluefish. This was probably the biggest Mac, but a couple of others were close. Had several live pins under a CT bitten in half just behind the circle hook, but no pickups. Good day overall, though.

Hey, Apalach, good to see you fishing, and either power boating with H. or paddling. Looks like powerboating - he must have fixed the floor in the Dusky. I was out the same day in my boat by myself and iced five grouper and a couple of macks. Macks were hot on DIR, and I released a bunch. Didn't want many because I had some nice grouper in the box, already.Apalach wrote:Beautiful day on Monday with not much wind. I will need to get with the two of you and plan some adventures. Us retired old biologists gotta stick together.

Actually, my charts call it the Dog Island Reef also. The Turkey Point Shoals are about 3 miles due north from where we were. We were drift fishing in about 3-4 feet of water most of the time.
