Lanark Mixed Bag 4/26

Post by Atticus »

Team Keels and I put in at Lanark at first light. We were greeted with more breeze than forecasted. We ran East and Tom cought a short trout topwater during the first drift. Our drift petered-out with nothing more to show for it. Wind was still stouter than expected out of the SE. After a second blank drift we decide to run across the bay. We get to the other side and fished a couple coves. Young Master Keels cought a nice flounder. We ran to cove #2 and worked it good with only a 22" red to show for it. Saw a school of 'em but they were on alert. Took a lot of 'glass and stalk' to get one 22" redfish in the boat. Ran to annother spot behind the Dog which was a ghost town.

Eventually we make a long run back East around the end of DI and out to DIS. Immediately started catching blues. The few spanish around wouldn't really attack our baits. I caught a 19" flounder unexpectedly. Eventually TK put a spanish in the boat as well. A smattering of trout were about and I boated a 17" fish. TK got attacked by a bluefish. The water out on DIS was pretty sporty.

We headed back to the North side of the bay. We tried one more spot with nothing to show for it so we took her to the house.

40.5 miles on the GPS. We caught an inshore slam... but there was a lot of 'chunk and wind' happening out there with few quality fish to show for it. We also caught about 100 other species (spanish, cat, needle, lady, blues, rockbass...). Everything was C&R... even the 19" flounder.

Yep - white, non-lapstrake with a powerpole and without a poling platform.

Put in at Lanark once every 48 months.
