SGI weekend

Post by WaltDawg »

It was my wife's birthday weekend, so we invited a bunch of drunks to hang out with us on St. George. :D
Luckily, I had a chance to fish 3 days in a row.

I fished the state park late afternoon Friday and got a lot of red action on topwater.

I switched to a jig thinking that either reds or flounder would be biting. I wanted something for the cooler, but lately I've had a bad habit of catching overslot reds. This guy measured 33 inches and fought like hell.

Also caught a few trout on pink Captain Mikes

Lots of reds, trout and flounder around this weekend. Early morning bite was the ticket. No bait stood out though. I caught fish on a Papadawg, Captain Mikes w/treble hooks and weedless, gulp, and even a spinner bait.

Awesome. With one yak I'm guessing the invites were jealous.
Actually listening to what other people say is worth the effort.

Man, I hate it when all of those over slot reds get in the way of good fishing!

Sorry you had to put up with those pesky things.

Glad you got out for three days in a row. What a blast. Good report.
