Great news. I do hope the pic includes measurement.Tom Keels wrote:Pics or it didn't happen.
They are skinny sometimes but 29" should be more than 7lbs.
Also, the best good research I know of that addresses the range/size class of trout
"in" the Gulf includes St Andrews Bay in its assessment.
St Andrews was near the bottom of the list for length.
Actually listening to what other people say is worth the effort.

Lit, a question on the sex of large trout. I have read that a large percentage of Sea Trout in Gulf over 27" are female , any research to back that up in our area?
Re: 7 lb trout
There's a great article in the Florida Sportsman this month on that very topic. But much of their research was done out of a university in the Carolinas. That does not mean they were not down here though.

I'd guess that a large percentage of Sea Trout in the Big Bend over 20" are female.TallyFish wrote:Lit, a question on the sex of large trout. I have read that a large percentage of Sea Trout in Gulf over 27" are female , any research to back that up in our area?
It's a guess and I'd have to hunt to back it up. I'll work on it.

Males can grow to lengths of about 20 inches, whereas females can reach 25–30 inches or even longer.

That's a big t rout. I'm guessing the pic doesn't quite do it justice though.
