Keaton 4/26,27
Fished hard Saturday at Keaton with the wife's Brother in law and a couple of his buddies. Finished the day with a nice mix bag of (3)flounder,(3) spanish, and (5)trout, but we never could put anything together consistant with the trout. Started looking in all the logical places, like 4 foot of water, but nothing was happening. Wound up out deeper and began catching a few. Caught a 28" Cobia, and hooked a huge tarpon that resulted in a nice 3 second fight, but what a casplosion it was. Black Sea Bass were everywhere, and lord the jig tails we went through. 8+ bags of gulps and almost everthing else in the tackle bag, even all that shuff I've been carrying around for years. Spring cleaning I guess.
Today, we got out there early, armed with a game plan of draging jigs in 6 - 7' of water. Plan was executed flawlessly and within an hour we had 11 nice trout in the boat. Only had to measure 2 of them. Fished another 1.5 hours with only BSB and Bluefish biting so we headed in.
My advise would be: go early, fish deep, & fish slow.

Thanks for the report and the tips. A lot of people have been catching em in 6-7 this spring. Might have to do with the water clarity and depth.

Thanks for the report and info. I found some the same info myself this weekend. Where were the shorts?? we had to cut thru them to find a decent trout!

Glad yall had fun. I need to make it back down to Keaton soon. We saw 2 big tarpon last Friday about 2 miles out of the Aucilla.

Re: Keaton 4/26,27
Good question.. we did catch a bunch of shorts on Saturday while looking for fish in shallower water... but on Sunday morning we caught very few shorts in the deeper water.BAD BEHAVIOR wrote:Thanks for the report and info.
