Mullet on the Withlacoochee?

Post by breeze »

Took last week off to catch up on my river fishing and went redbelly huntin' on the Withlacoochee river between Quitman and Valdosta. The water level was perfect that Wed. and the bite was decent (mostly butterbeans, though). But what really caught my eye was the mullet jumping in the river that far up from the gulf :o . As many times as I've fished that river I've never seen that before. Never would have thunk it so. All in all it was a great day on the hoochee-coochee (48 redbellies, all on black and yellow beetlespins).

Really missed your company that day, Welby. Next time.

That is strange, mullet that far up river. But I heard they go way up the Flint River, too. Nice catch on the bream.
