North Lake Blackshear/Flint River

Post by Flint River Pirate »

Wow......what a surprise, the bass bite is slow on Blackshear. I was also overjoyed to see the jet ski population has doubled! We rode up there today and picked up a few dinks around docks. The pleasure boaters started early today and forced us up to the North End. I generally like this part of the lake because there are a bunch of stumps and rocks, most boats are fisherman. We caught 4 fish on worms in the grass and a couple of HUGE Bream too. We had to run way up the river to get anything decent. We didn't do too well but I just wanted to post a fresh water report since I couldn't head to the "Big Pond" this weekend. We are heading back up to Blackshear one night this week to try to catch some flatheads at the dam. I hope everyone had a great weekend!! :smt006

Catch of the day? :D

Nice looking bass. Has real dark prominant colors. The bass ive been pulling out of my ponds are green but then again the water is pretty clear.

Thanks Striperguy, I must confess....that fish is a pond fish caught a different day. That is why I put the caption "Catch of the day?". Everything we caught that day would fit in the belly of this pond fish in the picture. I appreciate your comment though!

I was on the north end Sunday catfishing right off of the channel hoping to get away from the Jetskies and speed boats, but little did I know there must be a new juke joint on the north end of the lake that every one was heading to. We did not do that well either. We fished hard for 9 hrs and caught 5 channel cats to 3 lbs and one small stripped bass trolling rattle traps back to the state park after dark.Maybe Ill see you out there one day this week Flint River Pirate.

Sounds good GAJOEY. If you see a couple of guys in an Alumacraft anchored at the dam, stop by and introduce your self. It will be Wednesday night.
