St Joe Tourney 5/2-5/3

Post by Eerman »

Our reports sound a lot like the others posted.

Friday
Started at daylight and made the run to several different spots. Wasn't looking pretty at first and got drenched several times with the water blowing around out there. Finally found a spot holding some fish. Set the hook and felt that great "dead weight" and a big head shake. Fought him for a couple of minutes and boated a nice trout just over 24" and right at 5lbs on the Boga. Looked like a football. A couple of slot fish later and decided to save that spot for tourney day. Found a couple of other fish here and there.

Sat
Launched with the rest of crew. Headed to yesterday's spot looking for that football I threw back. Never found him; but did load the boat by 8 or 8:30 including a nice 22.5" fish. Spent the rest of the day trying to upgrade what we had found earlier. Spent some time looking for the redfish but never found them. Threw back numerous 16-17 inch fish, just couldn't get a couple of 17.5" upgraded. Ended up 5th with just over 11lbs. Some really impressive stringers on Sat.
