I need some help with rigging my new Maverick. I need some websites or contact info on the following.
1. Poling Platform mount for small vhf antenna that rotates. Stainless preferred.
2. Jt, I need the contact info on the Odysee Batteries if we still have the discount available.
3. Gps antenna mount for Poling platform.
4. Cheapest place to buy a Stiffy hybrid.
5. Removable backrest.
6. What is the best front casting platform(white and stainless)?

Just my opinion BB but mount as little as possible on the poling platform...it'll just get in the way and it's something else to hang up on, on a back cast or to trip over. Don't do stainless on the casting platform, too heavy and the finish on Anodized Aluminum is very corrosion proof.
If your getting a pole to use and not for decoration, get a Tibor poll holder, you'll thank me later.
Thanks BH, Do you think fold down mount would still be in the way?? Also, the pole holder you speak of is one for the Platform? I would like to try some different poles to see how easy the Master Angler is to pole anyway. If its gonna be too hard to pole, Ill probably not buy one. I dont need any extra weight or clutter on the deck. Being as nimble and stealthy (NOT) on the deck as I am,( I only fell in the water three times last year from BB ) Ill try to keep the deck as clean as possible!!

just use a good hand held VHF and a cell phone for communication. In a skinny water boat if you get stuck or stranded Seatow can't get to you anyway...just get out and walk back. Chalk knows a good story about a guy that grounded on a sand bar in St. Joe on a Ranger......had to just leave it till the tide came in about 1AM. If your not gonna pole the boat, don't spend 500-600 bucks on decorations like a poll or for that matter the platform...just take it off.

I wouldn't think a cooler would be heavy enough to effect draft on that boat. Just don't fill it with a ton of heavy crap. Use it as storage for soft plastics, life jackets, toilet paper, whatever...

Go to Birdsall Marine on the internet. They have a dedicated section on flats boats. They have back rests that are removable. I am looking at one of them as we speak. Most of the information around the rigging I get from the MHP website that you know about. From what I know, you can call Birdsall direct and they will custom make any variation you might want on the backrest. I am probably going to get my back rest on before my trip to SGI in July. I like the design because you there are times when I would not want to use it and you can take it off easily and leave it at the house. One of the things you will learn with a flats boat is that they fish great, but sometimes when you want to sit down and rest, they lack some creature comforts. I have been known to lay down in the floor and take a nap. (beer) It still is a good tradeoff.
