Navigating the wakulla river any tips?

I have a 18' procraft fish n ski with a 150 and im looking for places to explore.. ive launched from the fort a few times and been a couple of miles up the st marks,sunday i went up the apalachicola river and flint river. i love to fish but lately i do alot of tubing and wakeboarding.. im looking to explore and do some sightseeing on the wakulla but ive only been up the wakulla river to around shell point.. the problem was it was hard to keep track of where the deeper water is and it gets shallow fast..any tips on navigating the wakulla? also anyone have any tips on where to go for some watersports i know of lake bradford,apalachicola river,flint,chatahoochie,ocklocknee river state park any other bodies of water i should add to my list?

THERE IS A NICE BEACH AND LAUNCH OVER IN LAKE SEMINOLE AT THE STATE PARK. THIS IS WHERE I TAKE THE GRAND KIDS WHEN THEY WANT TO GO SKIING.

its been a while since ive been down that way but if my memory serves me your going to want to stick to the marina side of the river. It shallows up real good on the left bank looking upriver whereas there are holes to 10 feet or so on the right side of the river. i would not go to much above the 98 bridge it gets real tight real quick. If your looking to do some skiing lake seminole or talquin are better bets.

Talquin..stay on the lake near the damn or Oclawaha area. If you can see the stumps you are OK.

Follow the crab pots in the Wakulla and you should be fine.

ill check out talquin i was afraid to even navigate talquin because i couldnt see the stumps over by coe landing so ill head towards to dam and check it out.. thanks guys

I don't recommend skiing or tubing in the Wakulla or St Marks and expecially not hte East River, Aucilla, or Econfina. And don't cruise around the mouth of Ochlochnee River, cause them Oyster Bars are TOUGH!

Lots of people seem to do watersports over in the cove around Oklawaha on Talquin. Heading out from Coe, stay to the right of the Iron Curtain (the trees) but to the left of those flats that are straight out. You could always stop by Whipporwills and check out their map. The Wakulla only runs from the upper bridge to the Fort and most of it is either slow or idle speed. Everything below the Fort is the St Marks. Watch out for manatees!

i was really just looking for scenic cruise up wakulla and maybe some fishing.. up the st marks river looks pretty decent for skiing if you can ignore the gators.. ill check out talquin next week...

The Rivers are NOT good for skiing. There are MANATEES and KAYAKERS, not to mention, tons of other traffic and fisherman.

St Theresa and Talquin are your best bets.

If you were to see Talquin drawn down you wouldn't consider water sports there. Just my opinion.
