Bottoms Rd

Post by sanblaslayer »

You can launch small boats at Bottoms Rd. in Panacea, right? If not what is the nearest "ramp" to access the water northwest of Piney Island? Plan on taking out an old aluminum 14' skiff. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Yes, I just put in there last saturday. Watch the water to the left and the tides, it is skinny. It is a short run to PI. :thumbup:

Bottoms or Rock Landing Rd. Both would be fine. Bottoms is closer to PI.

You can also launch at Levy Bay which is a really nice ramp and about a 1/4 mile by water from Bottoms Road with nice paved parking area.

Another thing to remember about Bottoms is the higher the tide the more you have to back in to get your boat off. When it's real high my front wheels get wet. Or that's how it is for me and I fish a J16 Skiff.

If you angle the boat somewhat towards the old dock post when ya start backing in, it will get deeper, faster for ya :thumbup: I generally only have ta put the back tires into the water "17.5 G3 Bass boat" :-D :beer:

He's right just like a broken clock is twice a day. Levy Bay Boat Ramp is on Levy Bay Road just south of Panacea. And for those with no sense of direction, its on the Bay side of the road.

I was just wondering where levy road was located. Is it before Bottoms road coming from Medart?

Is the landing harder to unload there? Is the water more skinny than around Bottoms?

It's on the other end of Panacea "see map"
http://maps.yahoo.com/map?&q2=143+Levy+ ... nacea%2CFL" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's easy to unload and load
Some shallow and some deep " see jsubers map" :beer:
PS: the lighter areas are the shallower areas :wink:
