St. Marks River - December 17, 2003
Hi Everyone,
Many thanks to everyone who provided me with information about how to fish the river yesterday.
We put in at the fort at about 1pm and the weather was perfect. We went up to the first big bend above the power plant and caught a couple small trout on live shrimp and grubs on the bottom. After an hour or so we moved further upstream, where the river gets really windy. There we really started reeling them in - spotted seatrout, sand seatrout, and a couple redfish.
We probably caught 60 or 70 fish. Unfortunately, except for a few pretty big sand seatrout, nothing was keepable. We did get a couple 14" spotteds and a 17" redfish.
We stayed as late as we could and made it back to the fort just as the sun was setting over the river. It was a great afternoon.
Thanks for all the help and advice!

Nice report, and some excelent search and catch fishin
I don't fish SM's much Big, but this early in the winter I usualy fish later in the day around the Oyster Bars and shallows close to the mouth of any of the rivers or creeks for the keepers
How's that boat coming along? We haven't heard much from ya of late
