NFGFC Carrabelle 6/7/08
Butch and I pulled out of Taylorville at 4:15 a.m. headed to Jerrys Bait and Tackle to sign in.
Pulled in to JBT at 5 a.m. and TinCan was already set up and accepting registrations. Afew minutes later our partner and club member Junior Dice met us at Jerrys. Had to wait on CaseyCook to get there for the Big Red pot.
Left a bunch of Captain Mikes tube lures for everyone to sample. Hit the road to Carrabelle. Got to the ramp at C-Quarters about 6:15, launched and headed west. Got to our fishing hole and started chunking topwater. A few casts later and Junior hooks up with a real fat trout. We were amazed it only measured a little over 19 inches. We made several drifts on this spot catching 5 keepers from 17-19 inches.
We then moved out of there and started working back east hole hopping. A couple miles down I hooked up with a realy fat 21 incher. That helped our weight some. Junior has a monster nail his topdog. A couple laps around the boat we net a 7 1/2 poundf 26 inch red. Junior kept saying "I don't know what it is but it is big, I don't know what it is but it is big".
Butch nabs another fat 19 trout from this spot.
We keep hole hopping going back east and repeating this scenario all the way back to the ramp.
Every hole produced at least one good fish to help our catch for the day.
Back at JBT with less than ONE MINUTE to spare before penalty time. If you are 1 second to 5 minutes late you lose 10% of your weight at the scales.
By being on time we got full weight of 12.5 pounds good enough for first place. Juniors' redfish took the Big Red pot at 7.43 pounds.
There were 28 boats in this tournament. A very good turnout for a hot hot hot June day on the flats.
Thanks to Larry Cobb and Andy and Clayton Brunson for some fine hotdogs and sausage dogs at the weighin.

Not but 5. They were all good. But each hole after produced at least one better.
