Where to fish saltwater with a smaller boat?

we went fishing at alligator harbor sunday we were fishing with bull minnows and live shrimp.. i caught a 19" red about 30 baby black tip sharks,3 monster sailcats,and one 4' blacktip. we were fishing outside the harbor in front of my freinds house anchored while the girls were hanging on the beach had we trolled around we could have done better.. we got there at 9am and the water was like glass then around 1 it became pretty windy and around 4pm i got uncomfortable with 4 footers and moved in the harbor caught some more blacktips and left..i hit a sandbar but no harm done.. there the channel is well marked at the point to the marina but further in the harbor theres really no markers so i hit going back in..
