Got most of the details on my boat worked out this morning and got it ordered. Looking at 6 wk delivery..Now I gotta get a trolling motor for it.
Planning on Riptide 80 lb thrust ,24 volt, manual control..Wondering whether to get the 52" or 62" shaft..I imagine most of the time I run trolling motor I'll be standing up.
Also, didn't order a PowerPole..Dealer hadn't much experience with them and didnt stock them. Wonder what will be involved mounting one on an aluminum boat and approx cost..,Also who would stock one and put it on pretty quickly..
The boat I went with is the Triton 20'. Decided against the tunnel hull and planing pods... Got the 115 Optimax motor.
Any advice on any of the above will be greatly appreciated as always !
All you need is the 52" shaft. Mike's in Panacea and Advantage Marine can put you a power pole on. Man, I would've gotten the tunnel and the sponsons. Other than the Power Pole, its the best feature on my boat.
I'd go with the longer shaft. You can always raise the motor, but you can only go as deep as the shaft will allow. Plus, since you plan on using it standing up you won't have to bend over as far with the longer shaft. Or you can go with the shorter shaft and a wireless control motor. I put a 60" shaft, 75# thrust MotorGuide Digital Wireless on my 20' Triton bayboat and couldn't be happier.

Whatever fellas....I've got the same boat, but made by Xpress, and he won't need anything longer than a 52". The longer shaft will probably be in the way when the TM is in the stowed position. I've never had to stoop over to reach my TM.

BD, If they are having to stoop over to reach the trolling motor, they must be fishing deeper than we do! With my limited farming experience, even I know "PIGS" dont like deep water!!!! Trollling motor only needs 12" of water to be effective, 13" on BB. Why run the motor any deeper, thus making you stoop over to reach the handle.Plus they make extensions to avoid such nonsense!!! Go with the 52, Youll be glad you did!!

I'm 6'2 and the 52'' is what I have as well on my boat and when down the handle is right at my waist, it's perfect hight,,,,,,,now if your 8'2 then I would go with the 62''
