6/13/08: I got bad case of Flats Fever! We all know there is only one cure so I loaded up and headed out in lieu of work. We got out to Econfina around 7:30a and collected the traps. No crabs in the crab trap, just random, strange fish. The Pinfish trap appeared to have been raided. If you are going to steal from traps, at least re-bait it. Oh well, we brought ultralights for a reason.
Satisfied with the bait count, decided it was time to get to business. 1st mate got a keeper cobia in the box right off the bat. Fished for a while with no luck and then I declared, "One more and then we'll move on." Gotcha! Cobia cranked, fought, netted, and in the boat. Just a couple inches short. Released. Fun! Fun! Fun!
Satisfied, we decided to move a little closer to shore. Caught a Flounder, some flats groupa, and some ladies but no trout. Lots of floating grass everywhere. Lots of yellow flies near shore. Clouds started brewing and decided it was hot. Off the water by 1p.
