Little Saint George

Post by Barhopr »

Everything started out nice enough. Ran from Indian Pass the West pass to see what was cooking with the bait and to see if any poons were rolling and crashing bait yet.....NO.

with the Clouds rolling through ( Clouds Suck by the way) I thought I'd run East and fish around the back side of the island and work my way back to the pass. Got one of these on my new favorite fly (red/tan slider): 21.5" about 3.5lbs

Pulled the hook on one of these:

Spent the rest of the day until about 1:30 dodging these:

At one point there was a waterspout Just North of me and the lightning was BAD. Spent a lot of time with the boat beached with me in a rain suit laying down in the boat to ride out the lightning. Thought I saw a little light toward the landing and decided to make a run for it across the Bay. Was touch and go until I got beyond the dry bar... Not fun...
after a cold beer and a bowl of gumbo at the IP raw bar. I headed to PSJ. skies cleared and the wind died about 2:30 - 3 so I put the boat in and headed to the back of the Bay to see if I could catch a Red and unpucker my azz. Ran into the dynamic duo and talked for a little while then worked the outgoing tide till about 5:30. No joy, but there were fish there just trolling motor shy and REAL, REAL skinny.

Nice to see you didn't get electrocuted. That's some nasty looking stuff.

Nasty looking stuff BH glad you made you made it back in one piece. Just think with that lightning and that cage you were wanting there would have been no problem charging your batteries.
