3 Stooges 3 Strikes

Post by What a mess »

We left for Keaton around 5 A.M. and by the time we got to Perry the sky was looking rough. When we got to the area we ducked into the marina to check the radar. At 4:00 A.M. it was spotless now it is covered with multi-colored spots. We ran out towards the hole I had caught them in two weeks ago. The ride out was fine but it looked scary off shore when we got to 10' and spotty bottom we stopped about five miles off shore. We had our eyes on two large systems that were both throwing the heat and hard. 1st cast and a good keeper, next lost a short and the crew starts to murmer. Under duress from them and Mother Nature I turn and run in just ahead of the perfect storm. On the way in we run across some bait going crazy and pause for the cause ole Redbelly catches a 14 inche Gag Grouper that takes him to school we tie off at the dock and look at the radar, no more spots they have got together it's painting an ugly picture. On a visual it looks clear up north on the trailer and off to the Warrior I go with the boat and crew in tow. We run out and again it is on from the first cast a gooden hits the ice but the front is heading towards us. We had put two on ice in under 15 minutes at Keaton and repeat at the Warrior four on ice but mother nature ain't nice. Again Ma starts throwing the heat and closing in on us so we tuck tail and run. We load and drive back to Keaton and look around it may be over. We ride to Wendy's in Perry with a bunch of folks we wait for ever and ever, fast? food? I call the camp and yes it has cleared so back to the Warrior, gone is the front along with it the bite. It is blowing pretty hard and it is more hits than takes the fish are here and there biting when they want, if they want. It may be an illusion but it appeared we could have limited in 1/2 hour at either place prior to the blow. I did hook a couple of pigs Curly and Moe caught a few also. We caught a couple of Reds along with the Trout, Cats, Blues and Ladies. The Reds were caught in 8 to 10 foot of water while Trout fishing just a little odd? It started to look like we might finish well but the crew and the bite ran out of steam so we went to Ken's Bar B Que to lick our wounds and a little Bar B Que sauce off our fingers. What an interesting way to spend the day running from the weather and tugging on the fishes. I had about zero sleep the nite before so it was a little tough getting back to the house but we made it back and have a pretty nice box of fish too. Redbelly is boatless so you guys needing a crew there you go he will back you in and may even catch one or two. Expect him to pull out an odd ball bait or two and catch fish on them at times. My son in laws second trip and he is in love, that fella likes that salt water fishing. Most of the action came on a gulp with a jig head one of the two pigs also had a cork on the rig. Interesting side note I moved the fish box to the back of the boat and we barely got wet and ran in some junk. I think I created my own problems.
Yesterday it was taboo today it is normal what the heck will they be doing tomorrow?

I can say I have never done that before, load and unload a boat 3 times in one day. Too bad about the weather busting us up on a good bite.

I am still tired.
