NOT CATCHIN ST. MARKS

Post by FUTCHCAIRO »

WELL THE OLD MEN OF THE SEA GOT ANOTHER CHANCE TO HIT THE GULF THIS MORNIN. ROY WENT WITH US AND WE LAUNCHED AT 6:15 AT THE LIGHTHOUSE RAMP. ALMOST HIGH TIDE. WE WENT DOWN TO OUR FAVORITE CREEK AND LO AND BEHOLD WE STILL DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH WATER TO GET IN. WENT TO PLAN B WENT OUT ON THE FLATS TO 8-10 FT. OF WATER AND FISHED OUT HEADS OFF, DID NOT CATCH A TROUT TILL ABOUT MID OUTGOING TIDE AND THIS ONE WAS A SHORT. MAKE A LONG STROY SHORT, WE ENDED UP WITH ONE KEEPER TROUT AND ONE BIG BLUE. WE DRIFTED ALL THE WAY OUT TO THE NEW BOUYS AND ALL WE CAUGHT WERE ABOUT 40-50 LADIES AND ONE SALILCAT. BEAUTIFUL DAY BUT VERY HOT, WE ATE OUR LUNCH AND HEADED BACK TO TALLY. WHERE HAVE ALL THE TROUT GONE TO? THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I HAVE BEEN THIS YEAR AND IT HAS BEEN THE SAME STORY EACH TIME.

I think they've gone out deeper, Pa. Sorry yall didn't find 'em, me and Dad will try them tomorrow and maybe have better luck. I fished hard 9 hrs. last thursday and brought 4 keepers in. It's tough now.

Stick with it PA, same thing happened to me, but I lost a rod & reel. It could have been worse, could have been skunked.
