From Rob Buda, head of the Research Dive Team for OAR:
"On Wednesday, June 4, 2008, the Organization for Artificial Reefs (OAR) created the Century Boats Reef off Bay County, Florida. The reef was built with 20 Florida Limestone modules by Reefmaker Artificial Reefs.
The reef is located approximately 18 nautical miles from Mexico Beach on a heading of 238. From Shell Island in Panama City Beach, FL, the reef is approximately 20 nautical miles on a heading of 177. The coordinates are 29 47.201 N, 85 42.691 W.
The reef was named for Century Boats to commemorate the title sponsor of the Big Bend Saltwater Classic (BBSC). This year, the BBSC hosted its 20th anniversary fishing tournament. Proceeds from BBSC fishing tournaments are provided to OAR for the construction of artificial reefs. OAR would like to thank the many volunteers of the BBSC for providing the means to create these reefs. OAR would also like to thank the Mexico Beach Artificial Reef Association and Reefmaker Artificial Reefs."
