Keaton Beach Report

Post by What a mess »

Went out of Keaton This A.M. and ran to the 15 -20 foot water we have been fishing what a difference a day makes.

Most of the Trout were shorts we caught a few keepers a bunch of Black Sea Bass ole velcro heard some ladyfish.

I caught a juvy Cobia that had a nasty attitude. Some Sharks, all in all not what we had been doin out there.

The storm was way off and building and then it took off and started flying at us, it flanked us and it was rough as a cob.

Tired but once again we caught a mess just not the ones we wanted.

Yes sir we go till we find a big expanse of sand with an area of spottty bottom and grass we caught pink mouth grunt trout black sea bass a small cobia & short grouper sharks lady fish and were bit off several times by what we think were spanish. The fishing was off yesterday but the bait balls were not there nor were the schools of spansh. We caught less trout and spanish so we concentrated on the black sea bass. While the trout were off we did catch at least fifty but all most all were shorts unlike the past trips over the last month. We will have to try it again to see if they moved or it was just an off day. There is a hump area or ridge that comes up to 12 foot surounded by 19 - 20 foot water. Also due to overcast and water color it was harder to make out the weed bed spot edges which is where we have done the best.
