Big Shiners Win for now

Post by Chalk »

Got an invite to go chase big shiners with Barhopr today. Rain kept us off the water until about 10:00. We headed out with Baygator and his crew leading the way until we passed him :-D .

First spot: 1 - 7ft bull shark and three eagle rays
Second spot: One ladyfish
Third spot: 26 tarpon (castable 100 lb class), two follows and one lean.

Awesome trip, I think I pee'd a little a few times  ...water was rough, but the fishing was fun...each time we go we get closer and closer...soon, very soon we will get one :-D

Had a blast BH can't wait to do it again.

Sound like you guys have paid your dues.... should be a matter of time  Is the water clear over that way? I wish I could just find the time to go, work decided to get busy and implement all the projects they've been sitting on since January

Chalk needs a boat....period. He looked a little "backed-up" when he got there that morning. :-D
We only had three waves come in the boat...and that was because the wind shifted and turned our nose into the sea swells.....14" of freeboard means you"ll get one in from time to time when you are anchored in a sea swell. (Chalk) " It's gettin pretty rough out here." (Barhopr) " With the fish we're seeing, I'm not going anywhere until we start taking them over the bow."

Same here BH. Saw about 80 fish this weekend. A few follows and jumped one. He took the fly and ran straight at me, I could never get caught up with him to get a good hook set, jumped once and spit the fly back at me  They don't seem to be in eating mode at the moment.
