Spanish? Update

Post by Littoral »

I have caught very few this year and I've been where they should be.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
(I'd rather drive through Captain D's than troll)
Thanks!

Tom, Did you take any pictures of your trip? I didn't see a report.

Zin - The shoals are pretty easy to find on a chart. They're southwest of St. Marks. I'm guessing that the closest ramp to them is Mashes Sands or Shell Point. It is a beautiful area that's a good ways out, maybe 7 or 8 miles. You can still see land but it's pretty distant.

My kids said it looked like the Keys when we were out there on Sunday. You can also make it out there quickly from Panacea Harbor Marina.

Yes, we catch them in 4-6 feet all the time. Best bet is to look for spotted grass bottom and bait schools. If you find those you will probably find spanish. This spring I caught a good size spanish in about 2 foot of water, so they are there ifin there is bait there.
