Spanish? Update
I have caught very few this year and I've been where they should be.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
(I'd rather drive through Captain D's than troll)
Thanks!

Re: Spanish?
Zin - The shoals are pretty easy to find on a chart. They're southwest of St. Marks. I'm guessing that the closest ramp to them is Mashes Sands or Shell Point. It is a beautiful area that's a good ways out, maybe 7 or 8 miles. You can still see land but it's pretty distant.

Re: Spanish?
My kids said it looked like the Keys when we were out there on Sunday. You can also make it out there quickly from Panacea Harbor Marina.

Re: Spanish?
Thanks for the replies...I guess the Shoals are out for me as I'm a newbie to this area and fish from a Yak...are they ever encountered on the grass within 1-2 miles of land - say 4-6 feet water)??

Re: Spanish?
Yes, we catch them in 4-6 feet all the time. Best bet is to look for spotted grass bottom and bait schools. If you find those you will probably find spanish. This spring I caught a good size spanish in about 2 foot of water, so they are there ifin there is bait there.zinhead wrote:Thanks for the replies...I guess the Shoals are out for me as I'm a newbie to this area and fish from a Yak...are they ever encountered on the grass within 1-2 miles of land - say 4-6 feet water)??
