Even did an afternoon of Subdivision Pond bass fishing!
Well Saturday afternoon was clear so two of my buddies met at the house at 1pm. We loaded the boat and headed to St Marks to chase Scallops.
Got in line at the ramp, put the boat in the water about 2pm and cranked it up. Tried to turn the steering wheel and it was seized!
Wait in line again to take the boat out- fiddle with it at the ramp. Looks like the grease fitting came loose and it was DRY. Get frustrated and head to a friends place at Shell Point for tools. An hour plus later its greased up and turning easy. So about 5:30 we head back to the ramp wait in line and get the boat in the water.
Its all good and we are running out toward the crowd of boats near the bird rack.
First stop there were not many to be found. We picked up and ran a little further and bingo we are on them in 4" of water. I get my bag full and head back to the boat.
I'm noticing a dark cloud over the land and just as I get in the boat I see lightening!
I call over to the other guys and they come swimming. We run back after about 45 min on the water. Just as we get in the truck the storm hits.
LOTS of lightening and rain.... I know there were still folks out in it and said a prayer for them.
We end up with about 4 gallons of scallops and clean them quickly at the house.
My wife and father in law see what we did and get excited- Dean has never been.
So this morning we get up at 7 and head out to the coast.
We run a little further in because the tide is up and we want to find a little shallower water.
First stop I jump over the side to check and come up with 3 scallops. We swam and played for a bout 2 hours and had our limit.
We actually had to throw a about a bag back from the last haul.

On a side note- this was a momentus day- My wife actually ran the boat up on the trailer! Another First!!!
