Shellpoint fishing
I have been fishing at shellpoint the last two days and have not caught a redfish or trout yet. Thinking about pulling the boat out and going to St. Marks lighthouse. Do you think the fishing is better there?

Re: Shellpoint fishing
Fishing has been tough over there lately. As you have probably read, my partner and I "choked" this past Sunday. Caught only 1 trout all day......
Try the flat out in front of Liveoak Island on a falling tide. It has been hit or miss over there, but when it's hit it's HIT!

Thanks, I went out this morning and fished around the number one marker saw one shark jump into the air and spin. Saw one more close to the beach made a cast to him and he spooked. I'll try again in the morning. Lots of bait around but nothing feeding. I was the only boat out there this morning bad sign.

I think I"d be chunking a topwater in the shallow water bout daybreak if it was me...
Re: Shellpoint fishing
I went out at daylight and got in the channel between shellpoint and live oak . Put out a gulp shrimp below a cork about 18 ". Threw it out behind the boat and went to front of the boat to cast a spook, looked back fish on pulled it in, a trout about 13". Threw out again fish on trout about the same size. Started trowing spook fish hitting but not hooking up. Look back fish on the gulp again this time a cat. Change over to gold spoon hooked up with lady fish, was the first of about 20. Hooked up with one more trout on the spoon almost 15". Bite stopped at 8:30.

Re: Shellpoint fishing
Shell point area is pretty good right now but try to get yourself around some structure, mainly oyster bars and you will find better fish. I agree with Keyser Oyster Bay and Shell Point can be difficult to fish sometimes mainly if you dont know the area. Take it slow and try going out on a low tide to get a good look whats out there. The bars do show up on Blue Chart if you have it.

Re: Shellpoint fishing
I'll go out at low tide today and look around. Thanks.
