Oyster Bay 7/19
Dad and Mom are down for a visit, so dad and I hit oyster bay bright and early. Fish weren't jumping in the boat; but, it was steady. Most fish were caught on topwater or a X-rap. A couple of nice trout in the 21-22" range and more than I could count in the slot. Landed a little of everything with a flounder, some blues, a ladyfish, the ever present catfish
and a jack. Saw several tarpon but couldn't get their attention. Highlight of the day was dad casting a skitterwalk to a rolling tarpon...followed by a large explosion...about 2 seconds of hook up before the line broke. Thought he had hooked the tarpon until a VERY large trout surfaced right at the boat trying to throw the skitterwalk back at me. Probably 26"+. Fun day and on the way home a little after noon. Got dead calm out there and hot.

Nice report. Fishing with my dad is something special.
Re: Oyster Bay 7/19
I wish you wouldn't continue leaving baits in my large trouts' mouths.

What was I supposed to do today?

That must have been some trout, sorry you lost him and your lure. There's some big stuff out there, for sure.

Nice job in the bay, the fishing has been a bit spotty but it sounds like you did pretty good!
