Got bored this afternoon sitting at home and decided to go fishing. Called up my buddy Sean and waited until he got off work. Headed down and started fishing by 6. Fished pads and a grass flat with little success and decided to move to a deeper area. Fished topwater, but with a thunderstorm building off to the north the winds kicked up and turned into a waste of time. Switched over to a 7.5" and 10" blue culprit worms; texas rigged. About 4 casts in I get a hit and pull out a real nice bass nothing of real size for the day at least. I handle the fish revive it get a new worm and casted a little deeper. The rig hits the bottom and I start twitching threw a submerged weedbed. I get a bite but the fish loses it. It crosses out of the weedbed into a sandflat about 20 yards from where I am standing. I can see the bait in this very clear water. And moments later I see the fish take the bait and go. I get a solid hookset and the fish kind of stops. I real back the fish is not fighting a whole lot. When it got back to the sandflat it pulled 3 solid runs with the drag. Land the fish and its definately a candidate for largest bass at least length wise. I unhook the fish and release it after a couple of pictures. I release the fish and sean started fishing. I am halfway into putting a new worm on when I hear him yell. I turn around to a rod bent way down with drag going. He fights it back to shore and I grip it to try and get a quick weight for a speedy release. My scale is a tad bit rusty but the fish was around 8lbs. Guessing again with the scale id say mine was 5-5.5lbs. These were the two biggest bass ive seen with caught within 3 minutes of another. The bite was excellent and I think the conditions were almost perfect.

yeah its been a great way to spend an afternoon. No it is just a small lake in the forest. saw a 300lb+ black bear down there too, only a couple of miles out from spring hill road.

That pond is said to hold some good fish. I spoke with a guy years ago who claims to have caught 2 13lbers out of there one night. You used to be able to put a boat in, but as you know, they have blocked that off. Good to see that it is still holding good fish, I would have thought that it would be a mud puddle by now. Congrats, and way to release.

i usually go down there every 2-3 days. sometimes its back to back days others it takes a week for me to get back. gas is getting a lot to get to the coast and if anyone wants to do some evening bass fishing let me know.
