Yak bassin on Jackson...

Post by bman »

My wife is out of town for the weekend and I didn't want to sit at home... this Kayak fishing is so simple its hard not to go.
I put in off 27 and paddled out the trial.
Too Shallow to launch a boat. I think a Canoe would even be frustrating. Perfect for the Kayak.

Picked up the first few bass on a buzz bait nothing was spectacular.. just peanuts.

Then switched to the Torpedo

Lost one that went about 3-4 at the side of the yak before I could get the camera out....
The last fish of the night- caught over 15 - lost track!!

Learning a lot about fishing from this thing. Its crazy how close fish will hit near the Kayak.
With the wind I know I blew over a few- they swirl just as it goes by them.
An anchor is a headache in the grass- I need a steak out pole to hold me.

Still a great way to spend an evening.
My arms and shoulders are sore!

What landing are you at??? I went to 3 different landings last weekend and did not see any water. There is a small trail off North Monroe (27) but it does not look like it goes anywhere. I am dying to get out there!!!

There is hardly any water. I don't think you could launch a boat from there or fish it effectively.

Back in the spring after the heavy rains we could put my 18' tunnel hull and my buddies bass boat in at 27 but the water was a foot or two up sign post on the left side of the picture. You had to be on a plane to get to over the bar to get to teh main part of the lake. Decent fishing, world class mudfish, lots of weeds.

You are just about talking me into a kayak with these posts. Looks like a fun trip.
