Went fishing with Talltails and Chasin tail on Saturday to OB and we caught a lot of shorts. I couldn’t catch a Redfish bigger than 16” and Chasin tail caught a 4 pound Redfish.
So I decided to go to Econfina on Sunday. It was on fire that day. I got there at dark at it was raining and lightning but I made a long drive and put in. I hung a small 20” Redfish at the creek mouth and lost it at the boat on a little Spook Redfish model. I went over to Redfish flat and starting throwing and shedding grass. I through the Pink Mama Dog and got a bunch a grass on the hooks and started making a fast retrieve and got a good strike. I got the fish to the boat and low and behold it was a 25” Trout. Nice fish with a good fight so I measured it, took her picture and set her free. When the sun came up I started catching lots of 20-22” Redfish and they were stacked up so thick the back were sticking out in 4-5 feet of water. It was awesome working the school. I ended up catching 30 or more Redfish five trout and one flounder that measured 14.75 inches. My biggest Redfish was 25” Not a bad day with a 65” slam to end the day. Water was laid down just as pretty as could be and I was able to pick off fish as they disturbed schools of mullet. I would toss a top-water and they would miss and I would follow up with the CM Pink Weed-less spoon and get the hook up. Beautiful day.
