Sportsman's Warehouse - Fly tying supplies
They've got a pretty good selection of fly tying materials at the new Sportsman's Warehouse - a good selection of hooks (Gamakatsu, TMC, Daiichi and Mustad), eyes, chenille, foam (inc. pre-cut popper and spider bodies). A fair selection of feathers and fur. No Puglisi fibers that I could see, but they did have some craft fur, Yak hair and angel hair. Also, tools and vises.
Its well worth a visit.

The corner of Mahan and Buck Lake next to the new walmart there.
Re: Sportsman's Warehouse - Fly tying supplies
Stopped by there today and was very impressed at the fly tying stock they had...However some items were sold out..Young man came up and asked if he could help me said he was from Tennessee and was down for opening of the store...figured he was a dept mgr..He said he couldn't believe the number of people coming in buying fly tying materials. Said they were already reordering items...I thought the prices were the best of any place I had bought fly tying stuff....I bought several packages of zonkers that were of very nice quality and reasonable plus some other items...I was just totally impressed with the store.

Saw there was going to be some saltwater tying instruction in August. I assume that's you guys Capt. Reggie?

Definitely good to have a local source for materials. Capt Reggie, tell them they need EP Fibers, Schlappen, tarpon hooks (Owner Aki or Tiemco 600SP sizes 1/0 and 2/0), and plain and painted lead eyes.

Errman - some FBBF fly tiers are hooking up to participate with a store employee who is also showing some salt water fly ties - I believe it will be Saturday, August 16th! I'll check that date for sure and get back to all when I know it is carved in stone.
Noleflyfisher - you can tell them yourself. Just go see the department manager (Shane) and tell him what you want ordered. If they have it or can get it, it will be delivered. I know I have some specific requests for #2, 1/2- necks for dry fly hackles we need to tie for our club guys, so that will be thrown in the hat asap stat by tomorrow!!!

Re: Sportsman's Warehouse - Fly tying supplies
Thursday? I know I have missed the last month or so of classes but when did we start tying on Thursday?
What type of reels and rods are they carrying? I tried to check out their website but it seems to defer to the store.
I am juggling a few too many cases right now to get by there before they close.

Reels consisted of Ross, Okuma, and Pfleuger that I can recall. There may have been one or two other brands. Rods consisted of TFO and Reddington that I can remember. Seems like I saw something there by G Loomis, but it might have been a spinning rod or something. The place is definitely better than anything Tallahassee has had. The craziest thing I noticed was - and it's not flyfishing related - was that there were no 1/4 to 1/2 oz. J-hook silver or gold spoons. They had some huge spoons for trolling and jigging, but no normal spoons other than maybe a couple with treble hooks. Kind of weird not to have such a basic lure when they have such a huge selection of everything else.
Re: Sportsman's Warehouse - Fly tying supplies
I went back by there today and seems they had a scattering of spoons..I was after some more fly material...Wanted a couple more spooks but they were out of them..except for some 7 or 8 inch ones.had no idea they made em that big..take a big trout or red to hit one of them things ! They had restocked the fly tying stuff some since last Thurs..
