Evening at Aucilla 8/17/8

Post by No Slack »

Attempted to fish Sat morning but at about 11PM Friday night realized there was something wrong with the tilt/trim on the motor. It would only go up. Nixed the morning trip and am probably glad b/c it drizzled and rained all morning. Found the problem...bad trim relays. Ran around town until I found two of them, replaced them and the trim worked fine. Decided to try it Sunday afternoon. Put in at Aucilla @ 2pm. Found a good creek on a falling tide and caught 2 decent redfish, 1 on spoon, 1 on on chugger and a hard pulling jack crevalle. About 5:00, eased out to the flats, caught a few small keeper trout with glow DOA on a popper. As the wind pushed us back in toward some good spotty bottom we got some great blow-ups on topwater. The fish just wouldn't eat the bait, just wanted to jump over it, throw it in the air and beat it around with their tails. Brought a couple big trout to the boat that spit the lure at the last moment. :smt010 Durn paper mouths. Final tally: 4 trout to 18" and 2 keeper but small reds. Left all the big ones for later. Caught on the gold spoon, chuggers, glow DOA, candy corn SW Assasin, and a ton of blow-ups on the bone top dog.

Fished Aucilla Friday..... same thing. Trout were hitting short, but reds were extremely aggressive. Ended up moving to 5ft of water and fishing pinfish. Caught 5 trout to 22" and a 6ft Bull Shark on 10lb Power Pro..... took 45mins to get him next to the boat. Sorry, no pics.
