When will the water clear up after Fay showed her butt for fishing and scalloping? Going to Steinhatchee for Labor Day weekend with the other hundreds of people.

I drove over St Marks, Aucilla and Econfina today... they are all out of the banks.
I'm wondering what it will do too....

8-10 days? Figures. I was thinking about taking a day or two off from work and heading to Keaton Beach for the weekend. Of course, I could always stay home and put up a fence the wife has been wanting me to get to.

Keaton will be the least affected place on the coast because of it distance from any rivers. I've gone to Keaton 4 or 5 days after a tropical storm and caught fish. It really depends on how much debris got blown in.

From Keaton, go south. The Spring Warrior will be making it dark up north.

I live on Rocky Creek and am up early graphing the flood data. House is totally surrounded but don't expect the water to get into my carport. I've been graphing the water elevation and calculating the projected crest. Hope it is soon, expect it is today. Water was rising 2"/hour yesterday, but has slowed to 0.25"/hr.

Thanks for all of the encouragement. The river crested today, so that is good news. Water is receding at 0.25"/hour (not fast enough!). The water stopped no less than 2 foot from the house. I may have been stupid to have moved here, but at least I lucked up and picked the highest spot to place the house. I was smart enought to start buying Flood Insurance years ago (didn't need the government to tell me to....). My son's been kayaking to the neighbors houses just for fun. We are little higher than they are and are in better shape, but no one has had the water in their house. One neighbor had the water touch the floor joists/ductwork, so they'll have to replace the ductwork. For those who don't know, Rocky Creek comes out of 'the bay' in Taylor County, is fed by Woods Creek and later Pimple Creek (from the city of Perry), which later joins up with the Fenholloway. A little closer to Tally and we'd be on the front page......(whine).

Important thing - out of town son wants to go fishing this weekend. Need the yard to be dry enough to drag the boat out. I hope it is...!
