Live Oak Island Report

Post by Charles »

Went to the Island a little after 5 this morning. The usual car, truck and boat show on the road on the way down. The water covered the highway last night up to where the woods end. Parked a little past the bridge since the rest of the roads were still under water. Walked (waded) down to my Dad's place. The water left a line of seaweed about even with the fire ring all the way across the yard, but the water was receding. Most of our yard was submerged during the night. Not enough to carry off any of the junk, unfortunately. I estimate we got about a foot and a half of surge on top this morning's high tide.

On the way home I detoured around by Lower Bridge to check on Robbie's place. All of the T-n-T property was under water and it didn't look like the river had started back down yet. Call me if you need any help with anything, Robbie.

Cow creek landing is around this curve, I drove down to the landing Sat. evening and it had about 1 foot of water in the parking area! I tried to get to the parking area but the water has to deep to even get into the curve for a pic :smt011

The roads at Alligator Point and Mash's Sands flooded last night. Lots of folks stuck on Alligator Point.
What was I supposed to do today?
