Enconfina 8/30

Post by sundown »

Headed out in plenty of time I thought but was after 7 fore I got boat in water..Ramps at Inky looked like
I-75 and I-20.. Nearly everybody from Ga was there this morning..Water was high, swift and black...
Got to my first spot about 7:20 and started throwing topwaters..Nothin' , Wind picked up out of due east and the water looked like okeefenokee. couldn't see six inches deep..Tide was falling fast so I moved out a ways. No bait at all other than an occasional mullet and no bite either. Figured today was gonna be a waste.
About 8:30 I grounded on some oysters. Could have gotten off but didnt want to scrape boat up if I didnt have to.. Around 9:30 I got off it and went out to 6' and started throwing a SWA under a cork..
Over the next two hours I caught three trout. All over 15" and lost a nice one at the boat cause I didn't have my net where I could get my hands on it...Released all the trout..
Water at 6-7' was stained but not bad. No grass to speak of..
Around 12 started back in to fish the high.. Nothing on the edge of the creeks but going back into one I'd never fished, I picked up a nice red on a spoon..Kept on going and found an area that had some grass lines out from the bank. Reds started busting mullet in between the grass and the bank like wolves. Over the next couple hours I worked back and forth through it and picked up four more reds. not great but up to 24". All released. Got that spot well marked...
One thing,If I had had a power pole I could have done a lot better job fishing that area..Trying to keep boat on a heading with a trolling motor with a 15-20 knot SE wind was torture.......
All in all was a good day though..Looks like my grass growed about 3" since I left so suppose I know what Monday is gonna bring on....... :(

Finding a new hole and 5 reds is a good day considering how stained it was.

Come on and get it over with SD. Then you won't have to worry about it.

I can't stress this enough. I will never own a boat without a power pole.
