A unique website dedicated to fishing information from Florida's Northern Big Bend. This includes the area from the Econfina River west to the Apalachicola River
I was looking through a new saltwater catalog and came across the Wright & McGill® Sabalos Spinning Reel
They say...
Dunk it, drag it or drown it, just rinse it off with fresh water when you're done and the Sabalos will be ready to fish again the next day. The lightweight aluminum body and the components of the Sabalos are totally impervious to saltwater, so you never have to worry about corrosion. The 9+1 ball bearing system with infinite anti-reverse won't let you down, no matter how hard you fish. The smooth front drag system uses dual discs and loves to be tested by big fish in harsh conditions. Thick power bail, long-life bail spring and anti-twist line roller. One-year warranty.
Any one have one of these?

I liked it so much, I bought the company
I had some Cabela's reward $ built up and picked one up! Seems to be a decent reel right out of the box.... I haven't loaded it with line yet...... Think I'll go with 6lb Suffix Braid... We are headed down to PCB tomorrow afternoon after I get off work and I'll let you know how it does later in the week...... If I get on any fish that is.....

bman - What the above states is pretty much on target. It is indeed lightweight which makes it comfortable to use all day.... My back cover came off sometime during my trip/s and I'm not sure what happened. Gears are exposed.... The cover screw is still in there..... I've e-mailed the company to see what they say. Not sure if I banged it around fishing from the yak or what, but I'm not one to abuse my equipment..... Too much $$ invested..... I'll keep you posted on how their CS is...
Well, I e-mailed Wright & McGill on 9-3-08 and have yet to hear from them..... I posted on Blair Wiggins Addictive Fishing Forum about their Customer Service to see if I get responses from that site. Not in "flame" mode yet , but at least I should have gotten some kind of "canned" response. I know my company CS rep would have been e-mailing the crap out of me asking questions about the product and how we can take care of the customer. I get them everyday!!!....
o.k. it's official!! Their Customer Service sucks azz!! Well, at least their response to e-mails do.... All I need is a back cover for the reel... that's it! I kinda went "spider monkey" on the Wiggins site....

I just did....... email sent!
I have an e-mail from Cabela's CS stating that "they have requested a new back cover be sent from the mfg to me and it should arrive within 7-10 days"...... We'll see what happens!! It's a start....

Thank you Cablea's!
Yeah but Cabela's shouldn't have to be the middle man. I am sticking to Shimano.

That is just plain crappy! I have never heard of a high end reel company that wouldn't even return an email! I hate you are having to deal with that, all the way from Kentucky! Ha Ha
