Keaton, 9/26/08

Post by DixieReb »

Went to Keaton today with friend, Jim to try our luck. Got on the water about 8 am and headed North. Caught some small pins and set them out. One good 18'' trout was all to show in that spot, moved about 9 am and fished in clear water 4 ft. with little to show. A few shorts, 2 got off at the boat thay mighta gone 15''. Best time of day was 9:30 to 11:30, 1 fish in the livewell and I was getting worried. :( We moved out to 6 ft. and the water was more stained and you couldn't see bottom. Payday, :D we found some good fish. Got 2 over 20'' and finished out a limit of fat trout. All but one was caught on live pins under CT rigs about 4 ft. deep. The last one was caught on a CT rig with a new penney gulp. Only caught small trout on straight jigs and got a lot of small seabass. Kept a big sailcat for fillets, had a great box of fish. One time I had a grouper chasing a small trout to the boat, he bit it a couple times and was trying to eat it! :o Looked to be about 16-18'' long, woulda loved to hooked him instead of the dink trout.I'm tired but we had a great day, good luck to anybody going this weekend. :smt004
