Congrats to Jeff Suber and Paul Chavis

Post by Chalk »

Jeff called me last night and said he won a boat :o

Seems he had the fatest redfish sack at a yak tournament in Virginia Beach yesterday. He won a new kayak. Congrats

Paul Chavis is 25th after two days of fishing the Redfish Cup in Pensacola...looking at the pictures, it seems that 20 teams bounced off each other in the pass fishing a school of redfish.

Good job guys

Jeff Suber went up to Virginia and showed them boys how it is done! He took first in the redfish division with a red over 30"(catch, photo, release format) He also caught a big trout, but couldn't come up with a flattie. Jeff told me his two fish were bigger than the winner of the slam category winner's entire length total. First place in the redfish division won him a Wilderness Systems Ride 135 Anglers package. Nice job, Bro!!!

Thanks,
Since its a Catch-Photo-Release tournament, size does matter. So when we pre-fished, all our fish were over 30" and one over 40. The day of the tournament started out slow with a couple of good blow ups on the pink skitterwalk, but small Reds. So we moved over to the 2nd and third spots and I landed a 30". However, in VA they measure to the fork at their tournament, but they do it with everyone and mine measured 28" to win the Redfishdivision and a brand new Wilderness Systems Ride 135. It was my first win in a Big Kayak tournament. I managedto catch a 22" Trout on a popping cork. I threw it as a joke but the return was not joke. I went out to the bridge to land one of those big VA flounders and everyone around me with 10 yards caught one, but not me. I was happ to win the Redfish division and it was a great tournament with over 141 participants. It benefitted Project Healing Waters whose mission is to teach flyfishing techniques and knots to wounded veterans. They find it to be great therapy for the veterans that were wounded in action. It was a great cause and a fantastic weekend of fishing. Kayak Kevin caught a 30" Striper, one fellow caught a 30" Carp on a Flyrod, and a 20.5 Inch flounder won the flounder division and a 23" trout won the trout division. A 27" was caught but the fellow left his token out of the photo. THe Slam winner had a 52.5" Slam with a 20" Flounder being the biggest of his three fish slam.

Thanks to forums, and clubs like this one for helping me hone my fishing techniques ot luck into the winning spot. Thanks for the lessons everyone.
