Dove Hunting

Post by BayGator »

If anyone knows of a dove club I could join in NW Florida or south GA please let me know. All of our leases have gone downhill over here. Thanks for any information.

I know of a place near Quincy where the farmer let's you pay by the day or for the season. Hunted on and off there for the past 4 or 5 years. I'll try to call him in the next day or so to see if he's allowing hunting this year.

I don't have a problem telling anybody about the place. It's so big that the main problem we've had over the years is not enough hunters to keep the birds moving. It's about a 200 acre field planted in peanuts and corn. He doesn't manage it for birds, it's strictly a farming operation but when the birds are there, the birds are there.

Talked to the farmer's wife this afternoon. Corn has not been picked. She didn't know about the peanuts. She told me to call back in the morning to speak with the farmer to get the scoop. May not be an option this weekend. I'll let you know.

I usually see a sign or two posted around the bradfordville rd. area for dove leases, I'll be in that area tomorrow....well today actually. If I see one i'll post the number for you but hey Vitz lets hear about the farmer too. I shoot on a field in Midway but so far the bird count isnt looking too good for Saturday.

Spoke to him this morning. Neither the peanuts or corn has been picked so no hunt this Saturday. I'll let you know if I hear anything else.

fishbonez, I think the sign you are seeing relates to a place in Jeff Co. Last yr I think he had two places-maybe one in another county.

I tried Jeff Co one 2 yrs ago. Best day I got 6 birds and was high man on field. My total was about 12-14 birds in 5 hunts that yr. And it was big $$$ for season membership.

Nice guy, but he didnt have birds. He did treat everyone to a penned birds quail and pheasant hunt to make up for bad season, but I couldnt make it that weekend.

Joe Budd WMA near Midway has several managed dove fields. Last year was pretty good. Lots of birds. But, it's public. No telling how many hunters will be there.

Well....today the only sign posted on Bradfordville Rd. was for a deer lease, Maybe he gave up on the dove leases. If anyone hunts Joe Budd this weekend, keep us posted on how the birds were flying. I'll be shooting in the Midway area too and would be interested in compairing notes.
