Saw this fly on another site and had to make one.
Materials Used
Hook: Mustad 34007 size 1 or 2 or 4 . (Pictured is a #2)
Thread: Flat waxed nylon - color dependent
Tail: No tail
Body: medium crystal chenille and barred strung neck hackle
Head: small eyes bead chain eyes - use larger eyes if you want it on the bottom
Wing: two rubber legs - color dependent, craft fur or deer tail hair - color dependent
Weed Guard: 30-pound mono
Tying:
Tie in chenille and one neck hackle midway between hook point and barb
Palmer chenille forward about halfway to hook eye - distance your hackle will palmer - tie off
Palmer hackle forward and tie off - weave hackle back and forth to work down to the hook shank and not compress chenille as you palmer
Tie in dumb bell eyes
Turn fly over and tie in rubber legs on top of dumb bell eys
Tie in wing and weed guard
Whip finish and apply head cement
Note: Be mindful of your wraps at the end of the bug, can get bulky if your not careful. Less is better - waxed thread or GPS to keep things tight and neat. You can add some flash to the wing if you so choose.
