Well, somehow I've managed to fish 3 weekends in a row. Didn't post last weekends trip, but the wind was horrible and I caught one red, one sheepshead, and 3 trout, all on a gold spoon. (Sheepshead on a gold spoon - weird, I know). Anyway, went with CED on Friday to test out his new Beavertail BTX (which is an awesome boat by the way) and catch some feesh. It was super foggy Friday morning, with 100% cloud coverage - however there was practically no wind, and seas were very calm. We went around the front of the islands and played with some spanish and ladyfish for a while, waiting for the fog and clouds to clear out. Saw a tarpon roll around the school of spanish we were fishing. Didn't realize there were still any out there this time of year. Got tired of that, so we moved inside the islands despite the cloudiness to try for some reds. Did some blind casting behind SGI and came up with a few reds there. Around noon the skies cleared, and it turned out to be a beautiful day. Went over to Lanark to fish the falling tide, which surprisingly produced nada. Saw a few, and foul hooked one, but that was it. Finished the day behind Dog Island, where we found plenty of happy reds. Ended the day with 8 reds, but blew shots at several others. Strange/ interesting sightings for the day: tarpon off Dog Island, bald eagle sitting on the beach at SGI, and an alligator cruising the flats behind Dog Island. Here's a couple stellar pics from CED's iPhone.
