St. Marks 10-25-08

Post by dolphinatic »

I met my buddy Raymond this morning to try our luck with the grouper again out of St. Marks. We left the lighthouse about 7:15am and headed SE to a few spots we found 2 weeks ago in 20-25 ft. The ride there wasn't too bad as the seas were 2 ft. or less & winds about 10 kts. We trolled up to the first spot, but no luck. We marked fish on the bottom, but they just were not biting. Went to spot #2 with the same results :( We tried dropping various jigs over the area, but no takers. The wind and seas began to pick up and we decided that fighting them for the luck we were having was not worth it. We got hammered by 4-5's heading back in and even took a few over the bow :o When we got back in towards Cobb Rocks, we tried for some trout. We caught 4 with only 1 being a keeper. Nothing on topwater. Trout bit chartruese jigs. Water clarity not great. Oh well, it still beat sitting at the house

I thought it might have been pretty windy down that way. But at least you were out there!
