Lifted this from another site but thought it was interesting picture. Even if you love cats you have to admit, it's pretty funny!!

I found a snake in a shelter on the Appalacian trail up in North Carolina. I pulled him out of the rafters and then got to thinking, Hmmmmm... He'll come in useful for keeping the rats out, so I threw him down on the floor. When I woke up that morning, i felt my sleeping bag moving around. He crawled in between my sleeping bag and the slats I was sleeping on to keep warm. I did hear him choke down two rats that night and they scream pretty loud.

Daddy just killed a 6 foot rattler laying out by the pond and around his cows this past weekend. Afterwards they found about a dozen little ones nearby. Thought it would be kinda cold for that.

Hey, Suber, just out of curiosity how much of the trail did you hike? Any details appreciated. I'm a native Carolinian and hiked a few sections of the trail in my youth... keep dreaming of one day doing the whole trail.
