Oyster Bay 11-24

Post by Talltails »

Sunday, Waltdawg and I went fishing in my skiff under cold water conditions and even colder air conditions. I hit a lot of my usual spots around Piney and we caught no fish. We finally went and got into some very skinny water in some creeks and found the reds-- a ton of them. They were very spooked, though and would wait till we were almost on top of them and then swim off. After an hour of this kind of frustration, we gave up and went a caught a few sheepshead.

I went back out in the yak on Monday morning for a couple hours. The tide was dead low. No people, no boats, and no worries. Only me and the reds. I quickly located a couple holes that had also caught the interest of some reds. Pulled 10 or so fish out of each of the three spots I hit. Even caught a flattie. I fished two baits nice and slow on the bottom---a black 5" Gulp crazy legs and a Berkley rattle shrimp softbait.

I see these bros post and I cringe a little before I even read.
Ya know, they say gluttony is a sin.
I intend to do some "catching" up Wed-Sun this week. :smt065

Got me thinking that the early lows might be worth the effort.

WTG, water does look mighty low there. Good thing you had a yak.
