Lower Unit Scratches
I was just curious if I am the only one who's lower unit (skeg) is scratched to heck and back. I always bump something when I go. I had a bass boat for years and that skeg looked new for years. Since I started saltwater fishing a couple of years ago things have changed. It isn't a big deal because it really isn't hurting anything, but I was just curious.

JUST SAND DOWN THE SKEG WITH ABOUT 80-90 GRIT AND REPAINT IT WITH ZINC CHROMATE. THE 85 EVIN. I HAVE HAS BEEN REPAINTED ABOUT 10 TIMES SINCE I HAVE HAD IT. IF YA LET THE SALT WATER HIT RAW ALUM. IT WILL CORRODE QUITE A BIT AND EVENTUALLY EAT THROUGH TO THE OIL RESERVE.

That's a goood looking skeg. At least there's no chunks missing out of it. You can tell that you're breaking that thing in just right!

You know, now that I think about it my wife would be very suspicious if my lower unit had scratches on it
