Jacksonville Fishing

Post by creech »

I've recently accepted a job in Jacksonville, Fl and will be moving the family over after the first of the year. I'm working in Jax during the week and going home on the weekends right now. I was sure hoping someone on here might have some information that they would be willing to pass along on where to find the trout and reds. Have/do any of you fish this area? Thanks in advance for any information!

I was stationed in Jax for 8 years and fished quite a bit around the north side of town in the creeks off of Hecksher Drive. There is a nice boat ramp at Sisters Creek that you can access a lot of smaller creeks off of the ICW and even fish out as far as Mayport near the Atlantic. Be careful because there are strong tides and you will be stuck back in a creek before you know it.

Google search "Jacksonville, FL boat ramps" and you can find the link for Sisters Creek.

Example of tides for the next 3 days:

Day High Tide Height Sunrise Moon Time % Moon
/Low Time Feet Sunset Visible

Th 11 Low 12:48 AM -0.5 7:13 AM Set 6:03 AM 95
11 High 7:22 AM 5.3 5:26 PM Rise 4:21 PM
11 Low 1:45 PM -0.2
11 High 7:42 PM 4.3

F 12 Low 1:43 AM -0.7 7:13 AM Set 7:15 AM 99
12 High 8:18 AM 5.4 5:26 PM Rise 5:25 PM
12 Low 2:38 PM -0.4
12 High 8:39 PM 4.3

Sa 13 Low 2:37 AM -0.8 7:14 AM Set 8:20 AM 99
13 High 9:14 AM 5.4 5:26 PM Rise 6:36 PM
13 Low 3:31 PM -0.5
13 High 9:36 PM 4.4

The fishing in those creeks are awesome. Good luck!

Creech, you are going to love JAX. That is one place I wouldn't fuss to much about leaving South GA for. Good luck!

Contact Capt. Ron Schurr and tell him you are on BigBendFishing.Net and Tom Keels referred you. He should be able to get you started.
