Econfina 12/20

Post by Flint River Pirate »

We got to Econfina at 8am and we were greeted by a high tide and THICK fog. We headed out about 12 miles and trolled for a while. I got one massive hit and while fighting him obviously he hid under a rock and I got broke off. We anchored in 20 feet and dropped a chum bag just to see what we would catch and we caught a bunch of trash fish. We headed in about 8 miles to one of my favorite holes and caught tons of Rock Bass, a short grouper and a flounder. It was a blast catching all those Rock Bass, especially the 16 inch one I caught. I thought I had a red it fought so hard. We left at around 3pm and the fog was still so thick that when we got to the first tripod we still couldn't see land. It was a spooky feeling. The wind didn't hardly blow until about 1pm. All in all it was a blast as usual!

Nice to see you finally got out again. Seabass are tasty.
Actually listening to what other people say is worth the effort.

Good report. I wish I had taken advantage of the weather last week and gone out a few miles.

WTG! That fog was unreal...we left out about 8:30 and didn't see anything until we got back to tripod and it was still pea soup to west where we fished all day.
I'll get some pics up later.

Way too muddy Lance, I hope to get back on the river when it clears up a little. The catfish love the muddy water but the big shoal bass tend to act weird when the river is stained. I do miss river fishing right now. If I could frind a little 5hp for my Gheenoe I would be in business! My Key West is a little bulky in the shoals, ha!

I agree Doc, that would be a perfect motor for it. I am thinking of buying one of those Briggs and Straton 5hp from Cabela's for $899.99. They are air-cooled and appear to be a cool little motor.
