Icky 12/27/08

Post by tin can »

Ran out of the river on a low tide and headed east, a little further than last trip, hoping to find the reds moving in. No joy. Found a few trout early. About an hour before high tide I moved out. Caught probably 30 trout, during the high, in 4 to 5 feet of water. The bite wasn't fast and furious, just steady. Caught them fishing a cork. It didn't matter what soft bait I put on the jig. The key was to fish slow. Moved back shallow after the tide turned. Caught several more trout, and finally managed to find 1 19" red. Next trip I'll go further east.
What was I supposed to do today?

Sounds like fun...how far east did you try. Water temp? Nearly new years and trout that deep on flats..go figure?

Good day TC, go back to where you and Flounderpounder were. I caught lots of trout and him and Talltails caught a heck of a lot of Reds. LOTS!
