It happens, and it happens more times than you would like, the trick is not to fall out. Ask Flounderpounder.

From a news article about this:
"A fisherman yelled out, 'There's a 5m shark coming your way.' We all thought he was just trying to stir us up for a laugh, but a few moments later, a big fin appeared," Mr Kulcsar said.
The next thing he knew, the white pointer bumped into his kayak, hurling him into the water.
Against all instincts, Mr Kulcsar managed to remain calm despite the shark lurking just metres away.
"I wasn't really worried about the shark, actually," he said.
Aussie kayakers are men among boys, us Americans should strive to be this fearless!!! B freakin S, I bet the water was stained brown when he went overboard.

Re: Kayakers have close call with shark (Austrailia)
A few years back, we were in "Suth Africa" and got the chance to see a Great White from a boat out of Cape Point. It was 7 meters long and the locals called it "The Bus"
It had killed a few fishermen over the years and as recently as 2 weeks before we were there. The local fishermen down there respected the shark and just accepted it as part of the trade. There is no line fishing or netting allowed in the waters there, so no sharks are ever caught commercially for that reason. They fish by shooting jets of water along the surface creating the appearance of a school of baitfish from below. When the fish come up to "hit the baitfish" they are gaffed by the fisherman from the boat and dragged aboard. Really cool to watch

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." Proverbs 18:21
